Freemo, polar bears, even more inbound slides ...

Only a few lines in Jackson haven’t seen a ski decent. Corah’s Couloir was one of those few lines until Teton Brown put down a first ski decent last spring. Check out this behind the scenes footage with some history of the line

2/7/24 - This week’s stoke:

What we’re watching:

  • Unlikely Duo - Ever heard of #freemo? Well, this partnership is the definition of it. This short film follows a freeride world tour competitor and national skimo race athlete as they grow as partners and skiers, even as they poke fun at each other’s disciplines.

  • Bjørnebo - Svalbard The Movie - Skiing includes many objective hazards, but polar bears aren’t usually on the list. Not so in this film which follows a group of Euros that take on Svalbard on snow mobiles instead of the usual boat skiing approach. They find beautiful lines and plenty of adventure. A fun drinking game idea: take a shot every time they say “polar bear”

The Beta:

  • Helicopter Rescue In the Tetons - On Sunday 2/4 a group of skiers were ascending the the Banana Couloir when they triggered a slide. One skier was carried 500 feet and another 1500. The second skier sustained serious injuries and had to be evacuated via short haul.

  • Inbounds Slide in Nevada - And another one. This seems to be the season of the inbound slide. An avalanche occurred in Lee Canyon ski resort outside of Vegas. Four people were initially feared missing but were quickly located.

Elevating the Craft:

  • New Shift Binding Announced - Love it or hate the shift has been a fairly popular binding. This is so despite several complaints including pre-release and issues with the brakes. The new shift addresses these with a new AFD plate and a new brake lever
