3/14/24 - This week’s stoke:

What we’re watching:

  • The Hagens - What is it like going from professional skier to starting a family? This film showcases the life of two professional skiers as they raise two kids in the mountains of Chamonix while balancing fun, risks, and their careers

  • Skiing in Death Valley - We were feeling like getting off the beaten path and this video delivered us there. The Basin Project is trying to ski all 64 peaks in Nevada with over 3000 feet of prominence. This film is simple, low production value, and captures some good adventure skiing

The Beta:

  • Skier dies in Tuckerman’s ravine - Sad news out of the east coast. A 20 year old skier died after taking a 600-foot fall in New Hampshires Tuckerman Ravine. Conditions on that day were tricky and firm causing two others to be injured from falls

  • Colorado has a solid storm coming - Chris Tomer discusses a cut-off low that will hang in Colorado delivering deep totals in the middle of this week. While other areas will get some snow as well Colorado will have the most snow

Elevating the Craft:

  • How to belay while skiing - IFMGA guide Dave Searle demonstrates how to safely build anchors and belay a skier. He covers the mechanics of doing so as well as the situations in which one might want to do so

Thanks for reading and see you next week,
